Where are your projects stored?​

Your projects are stored on iCloud via CloudKit and are accessible from any device signed in with the same Apple ID. Devices also keep a local copy that syncs automatically.

QuickPlanX can also export projects as .quickplanx files for backup or sharing. To open these files, import them to QuickPlanX as new iCloud-stored projects.

How do I quickly scroll the timeline to Today?​

QuickPlanX marks today's date with a vertical red line in the Gantt chart.

To navigate quickly, double-click the timeline header at the top of the Gantt chart. Repeated double-clicks cycle through three dates:

  • The project start date
  • Today
  • The project finish date

Note: This shortcut is active when today falls within the project timeframe.

Can I specify just start and finish dates with task names, and let QuickPlanX do the rest?​

No. QuickPlanX is built for manual project scheduling and does not auto-generate schedules from minimal inputs.

To build a workable schedule, define task durations and dependencies between tasks so the timeline reflects your actual project constraints.

How do I create a project from a template?​

Any existing project in QuickPlanX can serve as a template. For details, see how to use a project as a template.

What is the difference between "% Complete" and "Physical % Complete"?​

These two fields track progress from different angles:

  • % Complete is time-based, measuring how much of the task's scheduled duration has elapsed.
  • Physical % Complete measures actual work delivered. You update this value manually to reflect delivered outcome regardless of elapsed time.

Does QuickPlanX provide the same features as Microsoft Project?​

QuickPlanX is not a clone or port of Microsoft Project. It is an independent planning tool designed specifically for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS with its own workflow and interface.

While both tools handle Gantt-based project management, you should not expect a one-to-one feature match with Microsoft Project.
